Reading the numbers

Across the 30 model years of the Ford Mustang in this data, 1995 ranks 2nd by complaint volume — 2005 draws the most.

Filings have fallen off, 4 in the last three years against 6 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.

The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 80,000 miles.

In owners' own words

Heater blowing cool air. Mechanic replaced radiator cap. Car overheated--replaced thermostat. Car still overheating--replaced radiator. Still overheating--replaced thermostat again. Still overheating--dealer says it is a cracked head gasket! All of this happened over a period of about ten days. This appears to be an epidemic among Ford 3.8L engines. Any help you can provide would be very much appreciated. Engine and engine cooling
This component was allegedly covered under a "customer satisfaction" program which has just expired. This failure caused my daughter to be stranded on an interstate highway the day before thanksgiving while attempting to return home from college. I believe head gasket problems with Ford v-6 engines should be a safety recall issue due to their high occurrance and the dangers which these failures cause. Dt Engine and engine cooling
Transmission started shifting hard and then the clutch start making a loud noise and start smelling. The radiator has been boiling over and I had a raditor repair shop to fix it the first time but it start getting hot again, and I took it to the Ford dealer and they worked on it, but it still kept getting hot so they flushed it out and changed the thermostat which did help it a little.
