The contact owns a 1999 Ford Windstar. During routine inspection a mechanic stated that the rear axle had fractured. Prior to the inspection no symptoms were present. He was in the process of having the vehicle repaired at an of expense $1500.00. He contacted the manufacturer, but no assistance was provided. He still has possession of the failed component. : The contact stated while engine was running with the transmission in park, the engine engaged and the vehicle moved forward hitting another vehicle parked in the driveway. Some damage was caused to the other vehicle. The column shift indicator was still in park. The vehicle was taken to the service dealer however the service dealer and the manufacturer have not determined a cause for the problem. Power train · reported at 105,200 miles
Vehicle was parked in the garage with the emergency brakes on and in park, there was loud popping noise, and car apparently engaged in gear and proceeded to go out of the garage, dragging ms davis . Car went several hundred feet and then stopped on an incline. Emergency brake was still on, and the indicator showed in park. Contacted dealer, and dealer suggested to contact manufacturer.
