The contact owns a 2004 Honda Accord. While driving between 50-55 mph the check engine warning light illuminated on the instrument control panel, and then the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to a local repair facility and a mechanic stated that the transmission failed. The manufacturer was notified, but because the warranty expired no assistance was provided. Transmission sudden total failure, without any previous indication or symptoms, while entering a freeway at an on ramp. Near end of on ramp at about 35 mph, vehicle was merging into existing traffic that was coming faster than 35mph when car stopped accelerating but slowing instead. Nearly rear end collision from traffic and subsequent traffic snarl as there was no place to go, nor any ability to make it go. Power train · reported at 167,000 miles
Brought new car in 2004, currently with 74,500 miles, bushings inside of lower transmission connected to driveshaft failure, consequences constant vibration while driving result in hard breaking to control, replaced driveshaft but bushings inside transmission worn due to excessive heating within transmission, recall was done on 2004 Honda Accord transmission but american Honda claims that it was vin specific.
