Reading the numbers
Across the 15 model years of the Ford Fusion in this data, 2009 sits 11th by complaint volume. 2010 draws the most.
Filings have fallen off, 22 in the last three years against 120 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.
The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 95,000 miles.
In owners' own words
I was driving to work, and hit a rough patch of gravel. The abs system engaged, and my brakes went all the way to the floor. They were soft and totally unresponsive. Fortunately, I drive a manual, so I downshifted and used the emergency brake to come to a stop. If there would have been a need to suddenly stop, I would have certainly hit the car object in front of me. The brakes have been spongy since this incident. Service brakes · reported at 141,000 miles
After braking when the abs was activated there is a loss of pressure in the car's brake pedal, which forces the driver to press much harder on the pedal to bring it to a stop. The brake pedal gets very "soft" and goes to the floor. This problem does not occur all the time but always occur after the abs has been activated . This has happened on several other occasions but this is the first I have reported it. Service brakes · reported at 150,000 miles
Brake pedal went soft after abs was engaged. Now they go soft and almost doesn't stop and takes twice the distance to stop especially after the abs engages because of braking on wet surface or bumpy/rough surface. This is scary and I would like to get this fixed but if there is a recall I would like to wait until the recall is initiated. Started happening a few years ago but I've just managed with it since.
